Jessica Sierra began singing in church as early as three years old and during her teens, was able to sing for former presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush with dancing and singing ensembles. The 17-year-old Jessica Sierra began a professional singing career by joining the long-running CBS TV variety show “Star Search.” In the second season of American Idol, Jessica Sierra tried her luck, but didn’t make the cut.
In 2003, she again auditioned for American Idol 4 and made it as one of the Top 12 finalists. Songs that helped Jessica Sierra join the Top 12 included “Against All Odds,” “A Broken Wing,” “(Boys Are) Back in Town,” “Shop Around,” and “Total Eclipse of the Heart.” On March 30, 2005, after singing the LeAnn Rimes song “On the Side of Angels,” Jessica Sierra was eliminated from the contest. Fortunately, as part of the Top 12, Jessica and her fellow finalists had the chance to perform live at the Coca-Cola 600, at the extensive Simon Mall and an extensive 44-city U.S. tour. On May 2005, Jessica Sierra was featured on the gold certified album “The American Idol Showstoppers” with her single “Total Eclipse of the Heart.”
After American Idol, Jessica Sierra traveled and performed in various places both local and in other countries, including a private event in Kazakhstan, the Special Olympics and corporate events for brands like Edy’s Ice Cream and Kellogg’s. In July 2006, Sierra visited the U.S. troops in Kuwait and Iraq, performing shows for the Independence Day and 4th of July celebrations. That same year, Jessica Sierra appeared on the TV Guide show “Idol Tonight” and was featured in OK! Magazine. In late 2006, Jessica released a song for a Toys “R” Us promo entitled “Unbroken,” which was included with the purchase of a Sony CD player. The following year, “Unbroken” was included on the Sony/BMG compilation CD entitled “Four Star Hits” and was released on iTunes.
Jessica Sierra was also featured on Entertainment Tonight, Extra, E! News and Inside Edition. She also joined the first season of “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew” in 2007. On January 8, 2008, Jessica Sierra’s EP named “Deepest Secret” was released on Rhapsody, iTunes and Amazon.com. Three months later, she released a video for her single “Unbroken,” which reached the #3 spot on Idolwaves by April 2008.
After a 59-year-old man broke into the home of Sierra’s grandma looking for Jessica to profess his love for her, she became a spokesperson for the National Stalking Resource Center of the U.S. Department of Justice. She appeared in a national campaign, promoting awareness of the risks and cure for stalking.
